We all age. Some better than others.

As I get older, some things in life seem to get just that little bit harder than what they used to be. One of the things I’ve always struggled with is a bad back due to having a mild case of scoliosis (curvature of the spine) which simply gets more noticeable as the years of wear and tear set in. This also resulted in a dodgy knee as that has had more use than the other due to the weight of my body not being evenly distributed.

I’m somewhat overweight at the moment (could probably lose 10-15kg) although I’m nowhere near as big as I probably should be with the diet that I have been consuming for years. This doesn’t do my body any favours.

For the last 39 years my lifestyle has been up and down in terms of me looking after myself. I’m unfortunately a big fan of junk-food and sugar, something that’s a daily battle which I often lose.

Recently my personal and professional life changed pretty drastically for me, ending up my marriage of seven years and leaving the business I started over three years ago. In a way this has put me on the spot to consider where in my life I am today. You see, I never really had any goals or plans. It was routine that set in quickly for me and all I did was live day to day, blissfully unaware of the fact that I wasn’t going anywhere.

Where to from here?

For the past several months I have been trying to reflect on my life and doing a lot of soul-searching. Not only because I could, but also because I realised I had to. In order for me to live a life of purpose, I needed to figure out what I really wanted and how I would get to that goal.

A lot of people seem to have it all figured out. We all have variations on what we really want in life but most of those goals are around four things:

Health, Wealth, Love and Happiness.

There’s a guy out there, Tai Lopez (love him or hate him) and he talks a lot about this. Sceptical at first, I did a bit of reading up on him. He might not appeal to some people and might not always come across as perfect, but he is who he is. The thing we need to realise is that we’ll never like someone 100% – there’s always a percentage which simply doesn’t resonate with who you are as a person and what your beliefs and expectations in life are.

For me personally, cutting through a lot of the bullshit – I see his message has a fundamental truth.

  • People want to be healthy.

  • People want to have money.

  • People want to be loved.

  • People want to be happy.

How to get from where you are now to where you want to be?

Personally, I have stopped kidding myself and hiding under the security blanket of social acceptance.

I want to be a millionaire.

There, I’ve said it.

For years I’ve been trying to find excuses as to what I wanted from life. Being perceived as someone who is all about the money is something which a lot of people frown upon. There has to be a greater, more worthy cause in life – if you’re in it for the money, you’re a shallow person.

Entrepreneurs around the world keep telling people that the money will come if you do what you love and dedicate your life to it. And that you should never start a business if money is your end goal.

Me? I just want to be able to not have to worry about financial obligations and spend my time building amazing things instead of worrying about money.

Be honest with yourself and forget for a moment what the world might think of you if you make a certain choice in your life. The only way to get to where you want to go is to be you and do it your way. The world doesn’t care – trust me.
