Find Inspiration in Every Conversation ~via @jeanniey_ and her recently launched @LiftOffShow

I met Jeanniey many years ago, in 2001 during Web 1.0 in the early days of aggressive email marketing, via a mutual friend and colleague David Haut. She has been a wealth of knowledge and inspiration ever since, and I am excited for her new endeavor... Liftoff with Jeanniey Walden. The message from her here is so valuable.

I love this line which says it all…

“You will find if you take the time to listen to what people are saying, and consider why they feel passionate about saying it, you can create better connections with them, learn something you didn’t know, and unlock inspiration for ways to do something better or become a better person.” /Ted

A million years ago, when I was in grade school, I came home one day and was telling my mom how boring school was. “All the teachers do is talk all day. And when they aren’t talking they ask us to sit quietly until the bell rings” I said. “Why can’t we learn stuff by doing more?”

My mom looked at me and laughed and said “When life seems boring, which it will a lot, listen to what people are saying, or look around the room and find something new, something that can inspire you and make the time go by.”

Back then it sounded like a standard mom answer :-) But today I realize that piece of advice has actually helped share my career in ways I never thought possible.

It happens to all of us, all of the time. On airplanes, as soon as the safety announcements go live, over 50% of the plane tune’s out.

In business, people can drone on forever about updates and things that don’t seem to matter to us. Friends can talk tirelessly about topics that we have no interest in. And, sometimes, even our most favorite person can sometime sound like that teacher voice from Charlie Brown.

In actuality, those times are the perfect times to learn something new… to be inspired.

You will find if you actually take the time to listen to what these people are saying, and consider why they feel passionate about saying it, you can create better connections with them, learn something you didn’t know and unlock inspiration for ways to do something better or become a better person.

When I launched my podcast Liftoff Journeys, and my TV show Liftoff with Jeanniey Walden, (you can see both at the link below), I set out to inspire others. I seek to find inspiration in every conversation I have with people and challenge you to do the same.

Where do you get your inspiration?
